Job Description

We’re growing and are looking for Electrical Inspectors in Southern California. Electrical Inspectors shall perform all of the duties outlined in the specific task order per project based upon client’s needs and requirements. 

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Perform Quality Control (QC) or Quality Assurance inspection (QA) for projects.  

  • Oversee the completion of the electrical work and follow-up with associated start-up activities.

  • Provide Construction Project electrical facilities inspection services.

  • Provide Construction Project instrumentation and control facilities inspection services.

  • Provide Construction Project System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) facilities inspection services.

  • Coordinate with Electrical Engineering Consultants and the City of Huntington Beach SCADA department to review Electrical Plans, Instrumentation and Control Plans, and SCADA Plans to ensure compliance with City of Huntington Beach standard practices.

  • Coordinate with Electrical Engineering Consultants to ensure New Project systems are compatible with existing Instrumentation and Control Systems, and SCADA Systems.

  • Provide standards for the manufacture of new panels and ensure that the City of Huntington Beach’s standards are met.

  • Provide Electrical Meter Releases in coordination with the City’s Project Team.

  • Review Construction Submittals for compliance with City Project Specifications.

  • Represent the City at Factory Acceptance Tests of electrical, control, and instrumentation panels.

  • Assist the City with Arc Flash Labeling requirements at the Water/Wastewater Facilities. This includes providing full Power System Studies as needed.

  • Supervise and coordinate electrical loop test on new facilities.

  • Review electrical loop drawings, and identify deficiencies in loop drawings.

  • Develop and provide Start-up Plans for the commissioning of new and upgraded City facilities.

  • Assume the lead role in coordinating and directing startup and commissioning activities.

  • Assist the City with the development of Electrical and Instrumentation/Control Standards.

General Requirements/Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience Electrical Inspection

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work under strict deadlines

  • Baccalaureate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or relevant discipline from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience preferred 

  • Any of the following or relevant certificates preferred: 

    • NEC (National Electrical Code)

    • Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional

    • Certified Electrical Safety Technician

    • Certified Electrical Safety Worker

    • Certified Emergency Power Systems Specialist for Facility Managers

    • International Code Council (ICC) Certification

    • Certified Electrical Inspector Certification Program (CEI)
