San Francisco Public Utilities Commission
San Francisco, CA
MCK provided Construction Management and Inspection services to the SFPUC for the improved reliability of the Westside Pump Station to meet regulatory requirements by providing back-up power, new essential mechanical equipment, and ventilation improvements to the existing facility all while remaining fully operational.
Construction consisted of a new subsurface knife gate valve structure, a new electrical room on top of the main building, replacement of the main building’s roof and installation of a new electrical duct bank. The scope also included the construction of a new electrical building (reinforced concrete one-story structure with steel framing and composite deck roof), a concrete retaining wall and pedestrian path, modifications to underground conduits, pull boxes, and vaults for new primary and redundant PG&E electrical feeds, construction of force main connections and cross-connection piping between the existing west and east pump chambers, relocation of existing sewer pipeline, landscaping and installation of public art.
