Sewer System Improvement Program
San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

San Francisco, CA

The Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP) is a 20-year citywide investment to  upgrade San Francisco’s aging sewer infrastructure to ensure a reliable, sustainable, and seismically safe sewer system now and for generations to come. The current sewer system in San Francisco was not built to withstand a major earthquake or impacts of climate change, such as intense rainstorms that overwhelm sewer systems, treating both sewage and stormwater runoff. MCK has provided inspection and other roles for this ongoing program which is upgrading or replacing infrastructure relating to storm water pollution, pumping of sanitary sewer flows, trench replacement, sewer mains and laterals, roadwork, utilities, and others.
